Pilates, Stretch Therapy & Bodywork in Manhattan Beach

I can tell you what I do.

I can explain the benefits of Pilates, talk about why I believe in hands-on bodywork, or share how assisted stretching can help you move with more freedom.

But sometimes the people I work with explain it better than I ever could.

Recently, I spent some time reading through my client reviews, and something stood out to me.

People rarely talk about just one thing.

They talk about feeling stronger. Moving better. Understanding their body. Recovering from injury. Feeling more confident.

And I think that says a lot about how I approach this work.

It’s never just Pilates.

One client wrote:

“I am also getting more out of my other group exercise classes since now I know how to target each muscle and use my core.”

This is probably one of my favourite things to hear.

Because Pilates, for me, isn't simply about completing exercises.

It's about learning to connect.

Where are you moving from?
What are you compensating with?
Can you feel the muscle you're trying to use?

That awareness doesn't stay on the mat.

It follows you into strength training, running, swimming, your favourite fitness class — and everyday life.

That's a huge part of what I want my private Pilates sessions in Manhattan Beach to give you: a better understanding of your own body.

It’s never just stretching.

Another client described working together as:

“A centering experience. She gently pushes you through each pose or stretch, reading what your body’s abilities are, and what they’re not.”

I love this description because stretching shouldn't be about forcing your body into a position.

Sometimes we need more range.

Sometimes we need strength within the range we already have.

Sometimes we need hands-on work to help an area relax.

And sometimes we simply need to slow down enough to notice what our body is telling us.

That's why my approach to stretch therapy and assisted stretching isn't a predetermined sequence.

We work with the body that's in front of me that day.

And it’s never just bodywork.

A recent bodywork client wrote:

“Her work is detailed, specific, and truly curated to exactly what I needed.”

That word — specific — matters to me.

I don't believe bodywork should be something that is simply done to you.

My sessions combine assisted stretching, myofascial release, joint mobilisation and movement, depending on what your body needs.

The goal isn't simply to make something feel better for an hour.

It's to understand what's going on and help create change that carries into how you move afterwards.

Different bodies need different things.

This is perhaps the biggest theme I noticed in my reviews.

I've worked with people returning to movement after a C-section, recovering from knee and hip replacements, navigating hypermobility, complementing physical therapy, returning from injury, or simply wanting to feel stronger and move better.

One client recovering from a meniscus tear wrote:

“Grace tailors every session with care and precision, and I always leave feeling stronger, more aligned, and supported in my recovery.”

Another, after a total hip replacement, said:

“I feel like I’m making consistent strides in my range of motion, which is also allowing me to get back to circuit training and activities that I loved to do pre-surgery.”

And one of my postpartum clients described getting back into the pool and feeling like she had regained not only her strength, but her “body confidence.”

Different starting points.

Different bodies.

Different goals.

The common thread is that the work has to meet you where you are.
